Brill Power
Project Goal
Formed in 2016, Brill Power is a spin-out company from the University of Oxford. Brill Power develop cutting-edge battery management technology to increase the lifetime performance of lithium-ion battery packs. Their combination of novel hardware and intelligent software solutions change the way multi-cell batteries operate, improving performance, reliability, maintenance, and lifetime. The application of Brill Power’s technology is ideal for stationary storage - from domestic to grid-scale and electric vehicles.
Brill Power approached Bulb to design and deliver their new facility for battery development, including laboratory space and breakout area.
Skills & Results
Bulb converted the previous comedy club into a battery development facility & staff breakout area on the ground floor with office & meeting space on the first floor.
A latex covering was applied to the ground floor slab & a variety of electro-static & standard vinyl finishes applied. A new half-height wall was built on the ground floor to provide division between the battery development area & staff break out. The facility included separate areas for high power and low power activity.
Tea points were installed on both floors’ levels, and new flooring & new door was fitted in the storeroom. Access control was installed to maintain security throughout.
Building services works included new lighting, Category 6 data cabling, small power for benching & 3 phase power for specialist equipment. New ventilation was installed to the high-power area, and air conditioning was relocated and altered for the tea point area. A full service was carried out on all existing mechanical equipment.
New workshop benching was provided & and new re-agent shelving to match some of the relocated existing furniture already owned by Brill Power.
