PacBio
Project Goal
PacBio create the world’s most advanced sequencing systems to provide the most complete and accurate view of genomes, transcriptomes, and epigenomes. Their founders invented a new way to study the synthesis and regulation of DNA, RNA, and proteins. Driven by a desire to advance human health, they harness advances in biochemistry, optics, nanofabrication, and more.
Their products empower scientists to explore the full spectrum of genetic variation in any organism — from unravelling the mystery of rare diseases to improving the world’s food supply.
Our task was to create a demonstration area/laboratory for PacBio’s high-tech sequencing systems, supporting (CL2) laboratory space and associated offices.
Skills & Results
The third floor of the impressive Rolling Stock Yard building in the heart of Kings Cross was sub-divided into open instrument laboratory to host 10 sequencing systems with a sample processing area. A sample preparation lab and storage area were created to support the instrument lab.
Special attention was given to designing and servicing the demonstration area to maximise the visual impact (for visitors) from the branded, glazed reception area.
A mix of open plan offices, meeting rooms and collaboration areas were created together with a spacious kitchen/breakout space. A large briefing/conference room was built for training purposes with the flexibility to be converted into a townhall setting.
