Laboratory Design Good Practice Principles

S-Lab is a not for profit initiative that is primarily funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), a UK government agency that provides funding to public universities. It grew out of earlier work on energy efficiency within laboratories but has now become a broader initiative covering all aspects of laboratory design, management, operation and use. Its mission now is to support improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of laboratories, and especially in universities and research institutes.

S-Lab and AUDE (Association of University Directors of Estates) have produced Laboratory Design Good Practice Principles to distil lessons from the many excellent past projects so that they can be applied more broadly. It also seeks to ameliorate some of the issues which have occurred in less successful projects, and to respond to growing financial and other pressures on the sector, and the consequent need to make new projects even leaner in design and operation.

Bulb Interiors are specialists in interior fit-outs and refurbishments of laboratories and offices and would like to share this valuable knowledge.
